July 2012 Bar Exam

For those who need a bit more time, you may want to consider starting to prepare for the July 2012 Bar Exam now. There are 3 weeks left in March, 12 weeks in April, May and June and then 3 weeks in July. If you are working and preparing for the Bar Exam, then you will benefit from a 16 week study schedule. The 18 weeks you have between now and the July Bar Exam provides you time to assemble your materials, draft your schedule and mentally prepare yourself, your family and your friends. The most important and challenging part of preparing for any Bar Exam is to minimize the distractions and there are many. If you are preparing for the California Bar Exam and plan to self-study you may want to check out www.beagoat.com It is a very helpful web site. I also encourage you to visit www.ncbex.org The National Conference of Bar Examiners writes the MBE, MPRE, MPT and MEE so it is a great resource to get copies of practice questions. Finally, the majority of your study time should be spent practicing exams and not just memorizing outlines.

Best of luck on the July 2012 Bar Exam!

Practice, Practice, Practice

In the approximately two weeks remaining before the Bar Exam you may be inclined to focus on memorizing rules from flashcards and outlines. You should be sure to include writing practice essays daily and incorporate a few practice MPTs while continuing completing a few MBEs each day. Next weekend, you may find it helpful to take a practice exam under timed conditions. For example, set aside one day to take a 200 question MBE exam. In the world of educational psychology the phrase to remember is, "meaningful repetition aids recall. . ." The key word is "meaningful".

Best of luck to you all! Stay focused, continue to practice and you WILL succeed.

When to begin studying for the July 2012 Bar Exam

As crazy as it may sound, now is the time to start preparing to study for the July 2012 Bar Exam. Anyone can pass the Bar Exam if they KNOW the rules! But to know the rules, including all elements, you need plenty of time to memorize the rules and with the many distractions you will experience you need at least four months in my humble opinion. You can prepare for the Bar Exam without spending a ton of money on review courses but that requires a lot of self discipline and time. One of the best self-study programs I have discovered can be found at www.beagoat.com The author of that web site failed the bar exam and then passed the California bar exam. She documented her experiences and recommendations and makes her information available via the above referenced web site.

I wish you all the very best luck but know you can pass the bar exam if you start studying early, and minimize all distractions.

Good luck!

Preparing for the UBE and Mother Goat

I am preparing for the February 2012 Idaho Uniform Bar Exam. The exam consists of the MBE, MEE and MPT. After a lot of research and consulting with colleagues, I believe the best source for study material is the National Conference of Bar Examiners (see www.ncbex.org) However, I have also discovered a web site that contains some excellent suggestions and useful information. The site is www.beagoat.com I know the name sounds strange but the advise and information is very helpful.

Good luck to all who are preparing for the February 2012 Bar Exam. I hope you are able to find time to enjoy your families during the holidays even though you are preparing for the Bar Exam.
